retired Married 2 daughter; 2 stepdaughters 4 granddaughter; 2 grandsons 2 My first year of college was at KCMO Junior College. It was quite an experience meeting fellow students from all over KC. My family moved from KC to Michigan in 1963 and I transferred to the University of Michigan. After graduation from college in 1966, I married an aerospace engineer and moved to Southern California. That same year I began working for the County of Los Angeles as a social worker and later as a Children Service Worker (child welfare/foster placement/children protective services). In 2004, after 37 years of employment with LA County, I retired. During those 37 years, I had two daughters (1973 & 1977), separated and divorce my children's father, remarried in 2001, after a 15 year relationship, to my current husband who also has two daughters (1971 & 1977), and became a grandmother. On the whole, life has been good. Retirement is wonderful. Vacations have no end dates. Weekends are now every day of the week. There are lots of trips to Colorado to visit my older daughter and her four daughters. Some trips to New York City where my younger stepdaughter lives and works. The other two daughters and two grandsons live in Southern California. After moving from KC in 1963, I returned once -1964-65 Christmas break. I lost contact with everyone I knew from KC until Dale Preston emailed me last September. It has taken a little work to pull up memories of those days more than 50 years ago. Here are a few: Marching in the American Royal parade each year with the SW marching band. Why did girls basketball have such dumb rules? Was field hockey the only girls extracurricular sport? As to teachers and classes, a lot of that is fuzzy. I remember chemistry class with Mr. Gustafson. And why did I ever take physics? And then there was Miss Anderson's Latin class. 2012-08-23 14:31:59
