not even nearly enough room. worked continuously in the IT industry until 2 years ago. Great husband, great kids, great stepkids, really great granddaughter (of course)
I couldn't answer this until I read Jill Edmission's profile, and then it came flooding back. Best memories are great friendships, some really memorable teachers, and probably the funnest class I ever took - history with "colonel" Jim McKee. He wore the same socks and shoes every day and we pretty much spent the whole hour with him making the boys scrape spitballs off the wall.
And the worst memory (thanks to Jill for the jolt to my memory) I transferred to SW from Wausau, WI in the 8th grade. To put it mildly moving from a small northern town to KC was major culture shock. I bought my books on my first day and put them in my locker. I had no idea that I should put a lock on my locker. They were stolen by lunchtime. Boy - what a life lesson! 2012-08-06 20:09:15 |

1966 K.U. BA, astronomy, physics, math
1968 K.U. MA, astronomy 1971 Indiana Univ. Bloomington, Ph.D. astrophysics 1971-2008, Technical Staff Member, University of California, Los Alamos National Laboratory working in Test Division (atmospheric nuclear) and International Technology Divisions. About 80 refereed publications (astrophysics) and 50 classified reports. 5 patents. I primarily worked in instrument design, atmospheric nuclear test data collection and analysis, radiation-hydrodynamics algorithm development, digital image processing and analysis. I made diversions into volcanology and measurements with LIDAR of the mesosphere. Retired from Univ. of California and worked as consultant for a USAF contractor on a remotely controlled satellite tracking project. I was a Guest Scientist atLos Alamos National Laboratory 2008-2011 to assiste with developing specialized analysis techniques for radio-telescope data from the Very Large Array. I continue in retirement to pursue long-standing interests in ballistics and shooting sports, orchid growing, and gardening. Best memories are Woods' math classes, Gustafsen chemistry, and Edwards' physics classes, and working on the TRAIL staff as photographer. Worst memories are trying to stay awake in English class after working all night to track satellites from the Linda Hall Library rooftop, and later receiving an invitation from Gen. Hersey to report to the USA Induction Center. (I was ultimately rejected owing to high blood pressure due no doubt in part to living routinely with little or no sleep.) 2012-09-10 19:15:05 |
