I attended KU with a BAE in 1966 and a MAE in 67. Summers during college I taught art classes at the Nelson Gallery. I student taught art with SW's Miss Beck at SE jr. high school. Got married, moved to Ssimi Valley, Calif. taught art in jr and sr. high school and jr. college. Widowed at 27, remarried a widower and adopted his 3 year old daughter. Summers we spent in the mountains of So. Utah, building a cabin ourselves from the ground up. While teaching, I was involved with Yosemite Institute, taking suburban teenagers for week long outdoor education classes to Yosemite. Got divorced. Joined the National Park Service. Worked at Bryce Canyon, Zion Canyon and Cedar Breaks Natl. Mon. as a naturalist ranger, EMT, wild land firefighter, and back country horse patrol ranger. (best job in the world). Married again and divorced(we all make mistakes). Lived in my cabin in the mountains with my Clydesdale and other horses, dogs and cats. Ended up in property management at Brian Head ski resort, then into real estae selling resort property to people from Las Vegas. Remarried a former Navy frogman/UDT (today's SEALS) who is a retired aero space executive. We retired to the western slope of Colordao. Still ride horses(and now a mule), garden and do wildlife photography for local and regional publications.
Best: art with Miss Beck, Sachem staff, the Christmas assemblies and singing carols in the halls (in Latin thanks to Miss Anderson)not school related--but the Plaza lights, even far from KC they still mean the holidays

My senior year was spent in Ankara, Turkey, where my father worked for USAID. I graduated from Southwest, but unfortunately not with the rest of my class. After graduating from LSU with a BS in Animal Science I became a travel agent and eventually bought the travel agency. My first of three careers spanned almost 20 years. After 39 years enjoying single life I married a wonderful man and his three sons, and began my second career in the retail business with a Gift and Decorative Accessories store. After another almost 20 years I switched to my present career as a wildlife and travel photographer. Both my husband and I grew up with families that loved to travel and we follow in their footsteps. We've been to all the continents and well over 50 countries and still counting. My husband and I live in Hammond, Louisiana with a cocker spaniel and four geriatric horses, the oldest at 40 and the youngest 28. When not traveling we also spend time at our home in the mountains of North Carolina.
Thus far in my life I have been fortunate to be able to pursue my passions, to have the company of good friends, and to have a loving family. Can't get any better than that!
Winsteads. Ms Atwood, who pushed me to do my best work. Art classes. Worst was getting caught skipping class.
